Types of leather sheaths according to the way they are worn:

    1. Classic belt sheaths
      – The sheath has a loop through which the belt is threaded. Knives are worn vertically.

    2. Drop-leg / low-ride scabbards
      – Suspended lower on the thigh, more comfortable for movement in nature.

    3. Scout carry (horizontal carry)
      – The scabbard is worn horizontally on the back or in front, often used with smaller knives.

    4. Neck sheaths
      – Smaller knives worn hanging from the neck, leather variants are less common, but do exist.

What are they made of:

  • Cowhide (vegetable tanned leather)
The most common, easily shaped, acquires a beautiful patina over time.

  • Buffalo or pigskin
    Less common, but also durable.
